The Voivode of Małopolska approved the building permit for the Polish gas transmission company GAZ-SYSTEM to construct the Wężerów-Przewóz gas pipeline.

With a total length of 44 kilometres (km), the pipeline is planned to run via the Małopolska Voivodeship (southern Poland), supplying gas to the Kraków agglomeration. In the town of Wężerów, it will be directly connected to the North-South Gas Corridor.

“This infrastructure will improve the security of gas supplies because it will enable the Kraków agglomeration to be supplied from another side, from the North,” said Sławomir Hinc, President of the Management Board of GAZ-SYSTEM. “[…] The possibility of using a low-emission energy source, such as natural gas, is of great importance for the energy transformation process and clean air in this region.”

Before the start of construction, as part of the preparatory work, a description of the land was made and archaeological works in the field are being carried out. The process of selecting a contractor for construction works for this gas pipeline is currently underway.

The pipeline is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
