Hungary’s University of Dunaújváros (DUE) and the Hungarian Hydrogen Technology Association (MHTSz) signed an agreement on 19 June 2024 to develop a hydrogen technology curriculum and strengthen and promote training in this field.

“It is already clear that the balancing and storage of electricity from renewable energy production will be unimaginable in the future without hydrogen technology, which requires a sufficient number of highly trained professionals in Hungary. Therefore, the Hungarian Hydrogen Technology Association places great emphasis on the development of secondary and higher education related to the technology, with a key milestone being the strengthening of cooperation with universities,” underlined Csaba Vigassy, Managing Director of the Hungarian Hydrogen Technology Association at the signing ceremony.

János Süli, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the university highlighted that the experiences related to the production and use of hydrogen could form the basis for a so-called hydrogen valley defined by the Százhalombatta, Dunaújváros, Paks, and Szekszárd region, which could play a significant role in renewable steel production and green steel manufacturing.

Director Dr. András István, Director of the University of Dunaújváros stressed that an increasing number of enterprises are settling in the Dunaújváros region, for which the University of Dunaújváros and related secondary school training could serve as a base to meet their demand for upper and mid-level workforce.
