Slovenian green electricity producer Dravske elektrarne Maribor, part of the HSE group signed a contract with Ljubljana-based Hmezad TMT for the construction of a wind power plant, the first one operated by a State-owned company.

The wind farm will have a capacity of 1 megawatt (MW) and it will produce enough energy to meet the energy consumption demand of the Municipality of Loški Potok. Construction works will begin before the summer and they will be completed by the end of the year.

“The start of the construction of our first wind turbine means an extraordinary success, the implementation of the European and national energy policy and, consequently, the fight against climate change, which is of extreme importance for all of us,” commented Damjan Seme, general director of Dravske elektrarne Maribor.

The location was chosen based on favourable wind conditions and the least impact, following investigations, on human health and the environment.
