Hydrogen Europe, ExxonMobil, Messer and other hydrogen leaders to gather at the Budapest Hydrogen Summit

As anticipation builds for the 3rd Budapest Hydrogen Summit, more hydrogen leaders join the esteemed speaker line-up of the leading hydrogen forum of Central and Eastern Europe. With a focus on advancing discussions around hydrogen technology and its pivotal role in the global energy transition, this summit promises to be a milestone event in shaping the future of the hydrogen economy with 30+ speakers representing major stakeholders such as Hydrogen Europe, Messer, ExxonMobil, RAG Austria, OMV Petrom, Desfa and many more.

The 3rd Budapest Hydrogen Summit will provide a unique platform for engaging discussions, strategic collaborations, and networking opportunities. Among the distinguished speakers slated to participate in this year’s summit are Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, CEO of Hydrogen Europe, the leading European association representing the interest of the hydrogen industry and its stakeholders, to promote hydrogen as an enabler of a zero-emission society.

György Bacsa, Executive Vice President, Group Strategic Operations and Corporate Development of MOL Group will present how hydrogen fits into the long-term plans of MOL and introduce the strategic objectives of the company in terms of hydrogen development.

Bert De Backker, Policy Manager EAME at ExxonMobil’s Low Carbon Solutions business will offer valuable insights on the role of hydrogen in decarbonising industries and achieving carbon neutrality and present ExxonMobil’s activities to identify and deliver high-impact projects for customers across industries, including manufacturing, power and transportation.

At the Budapest Hydrogen Summit, we will hear about flagship projects that advance hydrogen deployment in the region. Stephan Bauer, Head of Green Gas Technology at RAG Austria will introduce the EUH2STARS project an ambitious international initiative paving the way towards the future of European underground hydrogen storage, while Ákos Kriston, CEO of Hungarian Gas Storage (HGS) will shed light on the status of Hungary’s Aquamarine project.

Leaders of regional gas transmission system operators such as Hungary’s FGSZ, Romania’s Transgaz, Bulgaria’s Bulgartransgaz, Ukraine’s GTSOU and Greece’s DESFA will also attend the Budapest Hydrogen Summit to assess the repurposing of the gas infrastructure and how it can support hydrogen deployment.

Responding to the fast-expanding green energy demand of the region, Tobias Puklavec, CTO and Chairman of the Governing Board of Green Energy Park will share the story and mission of Green Energy Park, located on the island of Krk in Croatia which aims to unlock the value chain of renewable ammonia, distributed into South-Central-Europe.

The hydrogen economy spans several industries. Leaders of hydrogen mobility from Messer, Solaris, Resato Hydrogen Technology and HUMDA (Hungarian Mobility Development Agency) will examine the role of hydrogen in fostering sustainable transportation solutions.
