Kosovo establishes climate and energy partnership with Germany

This agreement aims to deepen bilateral cooperation in environmental and energy issues, focusing on “Net Zero Policy Planning and Implementation” of Kosovo’s law on climate change, “Swift and Just Energy Transition,” and “Kosovo’s Participation in International Climate Processes such as UNFCCC and COP.”

Additionally, the agreement aims to raise awareness of climate change. The declaration was signed in Berlin during the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2024 (BETD).

According to the declaration, Kosovo and Germany reaffirm their strong commitment to advance the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Paris Agreement, and decisions taken at the respective COPs, as well as the Sofia Declaration on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, energy and climate objectives for 2030, adopted in October 2023 by the Energy Community’s Ministerial Council and the Joint Declaration of Intent between the Leaders of the Western Balkans Six and the Federal Republic of Germany on Regional Climate Partnership.
