PPC Group and MYTILINEOS Energy & Metals join forces for major solar project expansion in Southeastern Europe

South-East European electric utility, PPC Group and industrial and energy company, MYTILINEOS Energy & Metals have inked a Cooperation Framework Agreement (CFA) to develop and construct a portfolio of solar projects totalling up to 2,000 megawatts (MW) across Italy, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania.

The estimated 2 billion euros deal spans three years and covers approximately 90 projects – in Italy (503 MW), Romania (516 MW), Bulgaria (500 MW) and Croatia (445 MW) – at various stages of development, aiming to bolster clean energy and infrastructure in Southeastern Europe. The green energy projects developed under the contract expected to provide power for 320,000 households and avoid 3.4 million tonnes of CO2 emissions.

MYTILINEOS will lead the development and construction of the solar projects, which will then be acquired by PPC Group upon completion. This collaboration signals PPC Group’s strategic expansion in Southeastern Europe, leveraging green energy as a key driver of growth. The group aims to have a total of 8.9 gigawatts (GW) of installed RES capacity by 2026.

The agreement marks a significant milestone for both companies, MYTILINEOS intergrates the deal into its broader growth strategy for the implementation of its international portfolio, while for PPC Group’s its another step to become a leading player in clean energy across Europe. Through this partnership, the two Greek companies aim to catalyze a sustainable green future while driving economic and environmental benefits for the region, they said in the press statement.
