Sir Patrick Vallance, Britain’s chief scientific adviser during the pandemic, backs Labour‘s green energy agenda, stressing the need for swift action towards clean energy akin to the urgency of vaccine development.

Sir Vallance said: “I am often asked which of Britain‘s many pressing public policy challenges need a vaccine-style approach.

“One such priority is the urgent need to end the era of excessive carbon emissions, high energy bills and energy insecurity by accelerating the net zero transition to clean, home-grown energy.”

However, Labour’s plans have faced criticism from the Tories, with Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho labelling them as unfunded and “dangerous.”

Additionally, the SNP has raised concerns over Labour’s proposal to halt new oil and gas licenses in the North Sea, citing potential job losses in the tens of thousands.
